Jasper the Bear
Jasper the Bear has been in the hearts and minds of children and adults alike in the community of Jasper and around the world since 1948.
Outgoing, friendly and adventurous, Jasper was created by James Simpkins an artist for the National Film Board. The original cartoons were featured in MacLean’s Magazine. Jasper’s purpose was to recognize the importance of protecting Canada’s flora and fauna, a purpose that remains strong these many years later.
Jasper the Bear is a cherished symbol of our community, and the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce proudly holds the exclusive copyright to his image and character. Since 2003 the Chamber has been the official caretaker of Jasper, ensuring his legacy is protected and that he continues to bring joy to residents and visitors alike.

Please Note: The Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce provides the Jasper the Bear mascot costume. However, the requesting business or organization is responsible for arranging a suitable individual to wear the costume during the event.
